Every person I know who is walking closely in relationship with the Lord is simultaneously holding giant victories from God and enormous questions for God. The molding of our hearts and the unfolding of God’s plan never seems to end. One freedom appears to reveal another lie that was under the surface. One season comes to an end only to bring the first wobbly steps of the next season.
The enemy would like us to grow weary in well-doing. To just want to sit down and be okay with okay. Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit is inviting us to keep going. Focus on the promises of God’s Word and the whole picture He has placed on our hearts and not stop.
In my own life, I am the queen of the nest builders. I will make myself and others as comfortable as possible, no matter where we are or what is going on, this is a great thing when you are in a fruitful season. It has not served me as well when I have instinctively found a way to be okay when life gets hard, or the enemy is stealing from me. God has asked me not to cope by finding a way to be okay. Instead, the Holy Spirit asks me to the full picture of what God has promised, to agree with Him step by step towards its fulfillment. It is time to keep moving forward, not set up camp.
You think you know what victory looks like; You think the freedom you are operating in now is mind-blowing. God is preparing you for the next layer of your redemption story, and this chapter will take your breath away. Don’t stop fellow warriors. You were made for walking this road with your leader. You were made to need Him in every step and with every exhaling. The next victory story is coming. Don’t stop!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.
